Can the school charge for additional support

Some schools do charge parents for providing additional support. Apart from what the law decrees the school to offer, the school could as per its SEN policy, charge an extra fee for added services, such as language and speech therapy, occupational therapy or additional remedial intervention. Some private schools may charge extra for remediation, not for academic services necessarily, but for the additional support facilities that the school may be providing. If the school has a visiting occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or speech and language therapist, they may charge separately for these therapies and areas of support because, except for a counsellor and a special educator, a school is not mandated by the CBSE to deliver these provisions. Similarly, if the school is providing more remedial educators than prescribed by the board, they may charge extra for the additional support.
